Rest your hat at the front door

As two separate lives merge into one as the welcoming arms of marriage embrace you, endless bliss is abundantly overflowing. So much so, that you start to run out of room for all of the things each of you brought into your new home. So, over the past seven months, Ben and I have been taking frequent trips to the thrift store, purging items we’ve told ourselves we can live without.
But as any grandson would do, Ben has chosen to hold on to a few items that were passed down to him from his grandfather. One being an old tool box and the other, an old, fading hat rack. This hat rack as been a great piece in our home, seeing as it has kept our dozens of coats, hats, scarves and dog leashes off the floor. And what makes it even more valuable is that it has been a generational hand-me-down. So in order to preserve this treasure, I decided to update the hat rack. I gave it a nice dark finish with a cherry hint and we changed the hardware to a handsome brushed nickel. I took some shots of the before and after.
