Quick rundown of my life: Married. Two dogs. Living in Hoboken, NJ. Taking one day at a time. Loving life.
My photography story: It began at the sublime age of 19 in a developing dark room with boundless walls for succulent innovation. I was anxious as I watched the photograph develop before me. Earlier that day, I had stopped an Italian man in passing and asked if I could take his picture. He graciously approved, not thinking twice about it. He was an older man with wrinkles as deep as the Grand Canyon and a white, horseshoe shaped hairline. I studied the crows feet at the corner of his tired eyes that only appeared when he smiled, and suddenly his face told a story. It was a story that only he knew, but that I still understood. He held up his arms as if to give a warm embrace to the camera and I focused and snapped. A split second in time, captured by light on film, told one man’s entire life story. It was powerful. It was addicting. It was what I had to do.
Everyone has a story. Everyone has a story that is shared by a voice, a written word, or even by a touch. With every life lies a story and as a photographer, I get to share stories through art. This art is born when I am given the opportunity to create images reflecting someone’s unfeigned, eclectic, beautiful tale.
Breathing someone else’s adventure, even just for a moment, makes life sweeter.
Point, snap and share it forever.
